A collection of useful resources for you all in one place

We appreciate just how distressing a time this is likely to be for you and the members of your family: perhaps this list of contacts (below), may prove helpful; and - as always - you can call us on 01453 767769 with any questions.

Help following a bereavement

Cruse is a very good bereavement helpline that we recommend: telephone no. 08444 779 400, or 01905 222 23. Their website address is: www.cruse.org.uk

This site www.counselling-directory.org.uk/bereavement.html has a huge network of counsellors across the UK. Do visit their site to find one near to you.

And for children, we have two sites that we recommend:
Winstons' Wish, on 08452 03 04 05. Website
www.winstonswish.org.uk
Child Bereavement Trust, on 01494 568 900. Website
www.childbereavement.org.uk

Admin help

We have found Louise at 'Practically Perfect' to be a practical, efficient, well informed, and sympathetic person who can help you sort through and deal with much of the necessary administration that follows a death - the paperwork, the letter writing and all the phone calls which can be annoying or distressing at an already difficult time.

Memorials for your loved one

We have partnered with an online memorial provider called Much Loved, and you can visit their site here. You can create an online memorial for your loved one quickly and easily, and for free.

Saying goodbye to a loved on is of course never easy. A beautiful tribute is to release doves, as they signify blessed hope for eternity. There is a local company who can arrange this for you – click on the link to visit their site: White Doves

Biodegradable and eco-friendly coffins

We have always tried to be conscious of the environment by providing more ecologically friendly coffins and urns. One of our suppliers is another local firm by the name of Sunset Coffins, and you can visit their site by clicking this link. Their products are made from 100% newsprint, and can be decorated or personalised by you to add that personal touch.

A selection of books and poems:

Books

The charity for bereaved children, Winston’s Wish, has a selection of books and information. You can visit their website or call them on 01242 515157.

Their titles include: A Child's Grief, Milly's Bug Lump, Muddles Puddles and Sunshine and As Big as It Gets. You can see their books by clicking the link below:

Another book that we can recommend is called Badger's Parting Gifts. It is a sensible book about grief and dying and is available from Amazon.co.uk. You can see it by clicking the link below:

Poems

We have assembled a beautiful list of poems specifically for young deaths. You can see this selection by clicking on this link here.

"I am so glad to have had your kindly and helpful support over the past couple of years whilst I have been preparing for Mum's death. My sister and I found your gentle, low-key, but professional presence during the closing of the coffin – and throughout the funeral – very reassuring, and we both thank you most sincerely for making the experience one of great calm and peace."
Dr. B. W. Malvern
